How I became Open Minded…

How I became Open Minded…
As God has blessed me, I have lived a humble but fruitful life. I have had the  opportunity to be a part of many notable miracles, served under some mighty men and women of God. Have had great success in the Business world, but my greatest of all achievements is definitely my family and who they have become as people. I remember the night that the new Texas Stadium opened up, I think that they hosted an OU vs BYU football game, I’m not sure.  At halftime
1. All of us have the divine ability to create 2. You find your destiny and or purpose in your passion 3. Very few will make a living at what they are passionate about (not entirely) 4. Manifesting purpose and meaning to the world is a journey (it’s revealed in the art of being and doing, not a destination) 5. Squandering your gifts and talents will bring torment and distress to your life 1. “I’m not very creative” doesn’t work. There is no such thing...

Discovering the RealU 2

Discovering the RealU 2
I was talking to one of my sons a few months ago about what he wanted to do for a living, and or career. I found his response and logic quite different from what I expected. His reply was, ” I want to get involved in some kind of schooling that requires the least amount of time and the most pay”. You know we have been trained to think this way in our carnal perspectives. Some people try to find jobs, some seek careers with benefits. Remember years ago that

Discovering the RealU

Discovering the RealU
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”  I suppose there is not an American alive that hasn’t been asked this question, either in Kindergarten or First grade. I’m thinking today of what the answers might have been when we were young and full of hope, and faith. I remember in my class there were replies of  Teacher, astronaut, Football Player, Singer, Business Owner, and even the President. Today I am wondering how many of us ‘became’ what we wanted to

Shame: The Swamp Land of the Soul

Today I was reading and came across this idea of shame being like a swamp. I have been contemplating the whole Adam and Eve story for years, and very intensely the last year or so. I can not seem to shake the idea that we are still dealing with the effects of that fatal day. Misty Edwards is an amazing prophetic psalmist. In one of her songs the line is, “If Grace is an ocean then we’re all drowning.” I truly believe this statement, I also recall Stevie Ni...

Paradoxical Ascent 2

The paradoxical ascent to God is not easily explained to the logical mind.  In simple terms the early Fathers of the faith would use these terms to describe the spiritual ‘feeling’. The Paradox here is the reality of what’s really going on in the hearts and minds of God’s people at certain times in their lives. ‘The more I know about God, it seems the less I really know’, and ‘The closer I get to Him and His Essence, the further away He seems.’ This cou...

Paradoxical Ascent 1

When you think about the thought of ambiguity, it brings to mind an ancient thought of the ‘Paradoxical Ascent’.  The very term seems to be inline with ambiguity and in many ways it is, but in a much deeper mystery. The usage of the word paradox in our society is the polar opposite, it actually means disambiguation. A paradox is a true statement or group of statements that leads to a contradiction or a situation which defies intuition. The term is also ...

In My Shoes

In My Shoes
In my shoes, just to see what it’s like to be me I’ll be you, let’s trade shoes Just to see what it’d be like to feel your pain You feel mine, go inside each other’s minds Just to see what we find Look at life through each other’s eyes But don’t let em say you ain’t beautiful They can all get lost, just stay true to you Don’t let em say you ain’t beautiful They can all get lost, just stay true to you Eminem The process of love goes in stag

Hearts that BURN!

Hearts that BURN!
There is an amazing description of how spiritual events take place in our lives. In Luke 24 the resurrected Christ is walking veiled to the disciples, and they did not even know HIM! They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32 I wonder how many times we have stood in the presence of such greatness, and not really recognize the significance until later on. I c

3 Gifts of Spiritual Guides

3 Gifts of Spiritual Guides
(From Bishop Kalistos Ware) Three gifts in particular distinguish the spiritual guide. 1. The first is insight and discernment (diakrisis), the ability to perceive intuitively the secrets of another’s heart, to understand the hidden depths of which the other does not speak and is usually unaware. The spiritual father or mother penetrates beneath the conventional gestures and subterfuges whereby we conceal our true personality from others and from ourselv...
